ALLY PLEDGE
At Eventistry by Diana, I plan and coordinate weddings for couples who want a wedding just as unique as they are. I love and support those differences, even if I may not understand and will work to learn more about them. I believe in inclusivity and love in all forms. Judgement and hate have no place at a wedding. I firmly believe you are who you do business with. To embrace that, I will only collaborate with creative partners who’s values align with mine.
AS AN ALLY I PLEDGE TO STAND AGAINST HATE BY SPEAKING OUT AGAINST:
- Ableism – discrimination, prejudice, dislike and/or hostility against people with or perceived to have disabilities.
- Ageism – discrimination, prejudice, dislike and/or hostility against people on the grounds of their age.
- Antisemitism – discrimination, prejudice, dislike and/or hostility against Jewish people.
- Classism – discrimination, prejudice, dislike and/or hostility against people who belong to a particular social class.
- Homophobia – discrimination, prejudice, dislike and/or hostility against homosexual people.
- Misogyny -discrimination, prejudice, dislike and/or hostility against women.
- Queerphobia – discrimination, prejudice, dislike and/or hostility against people who are not heterosexual and cisgendered.
- Racism – discrimination, prejudice, dislike and/or hostility against people based on their membership of a particular racial or ethnic group, typically one that is a minority or marginalized.
- Sexism -discrimination, prejudice, dislike and/or hostility against people based on their sex.
- Sizeism – discrimination, prejudice, dislike and/or hostility against people based on their size.
- Transphobia – discrimination, prejudice, dislike and/or hostility against transgender people.
- Xenophobia – discrimination, prejudice, dislike and/or hostility against people from other countries.
AS AN ALLY I PLEDGE TO SHOW MY SUPPORT EVERYDAY IN MY PERSONAL LIFE AND BUSINESS BY:
- Actively practice inclusivity in my business and continue to educate myself about inclusivity so that I may continue to grow as an ally.
- Normalize and honor the use of peoples pronouns (she/her, he/him, they/them, ze/hir, etc.) To do this I will always ask, never assume.
- Stand up to hate, discrimination, prejudice, dislike or hostility.
- Speak up for inequality and inclusivity with my fellow wedding professionals, friends, family and strangers. I will not be silent. If I hear words or jokes meant to harm, I will correct and educate.
- Show support by using language that is welcoming to all people. One was is by using inclusive language in all of my documents and social media accounts. Everyone deserves to see themselves represented.
- I will volunteer my time and money to organizations and businesses that uplift and support those who have been ignored or mistrested by society.
- I will continue to replace words with gender-neutral language. (i.e. bride, bridal suite, bridemaids, groom, etc. with terms such as couple, getting ready room, wedding party, honor attendant, person of honor, etc.)
- I will research and learn about political candidates and vote for those who are working to better the lives of ALL people.
- Include on my website, marketing and social media accounts, imagery that shows all races, genders, ethnicities, sizes, abilities, sexualities and ages. If I do not have such images, I will continue to share my skills with all in an effort to attract those couples so that I may share such imagery in the future. Or participate in inclusive styled shoots.
AS AN ALLY, I PLEDGE TO SUPPORT THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN MISTREATED AND/OR IGNORED BY SOCIETY. I WILL USE MY WORDS AND PLATFORM TO UNDERSTAND, UPLIFT AND SUPPORT: BIPOC, LGBTQIAP, PEOPLE OF ALL GENDER EXPRESSIONS AND IDENTITIES, PEOPLE OF ALL AGES AND SIZES, PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES AND OF ALL ETHNICITIES.
