What’s the first thing you think of when you hear velvet? Maybe The Renaissance, and their glorious gowns and upholstery? Or the 1920’s and the little accents and shawls worn by ladies as a touch of elegance. Me personally, it takes me to the 90’s. From pop icons adorned in it, to the mini dresses a lot of girls in my school wore. I believe the movie “The Craft” helped influence a lot of goth velvet fashion in my high school days, I may have been a victim myself. But it is NOT something that I think of when I think of weddings.

That brings me to today, while chatting it up with another wedding planner from Illinois she starts talking about a styled shoot she did. She sends me a sneak peak…..blue velvet tablecloths. I was floored. I wish I could share the pictures, but they’re not officially published yet. The richness that exuded from that photo had me wanting more. So in comes Google and many more minutes of my time then I wanted to spend looking at tablecloths. Seriously look at this!
It’s official, I need a couple in my life that want velvet tablescapes. It is so elegant and yet so deep with the dark colors, and yet it can be fun and bright with the lighter colors. Who knew the 90’s velvet trend would come back in weddings. Not me, but I’m sold.
